About Scourie Filling Station
Scourie is a tiny community on the north-west coast of Sutherland, set against one of Scotland's most dramatic and empty landscapes. The filling station here is a lifeline — between Lochinver and Durness, this is the only fuel available, a stretch of roughly 85 miles of winding single-track road. The village has a small hotel and a shop but very limited facilities. Handa Island, one of Scotland's great seabird colonies, is accessible by ferry from nearby Tarbet.

Very limited hours and no Sunday opening. This is the remotest fuel point on the route. Never pass Scourie on empty — Durness is 40 miles further north with no fuel en route.

⚠️ NC500 Fuel Warning: Fuel stations on the North Coast 500 can be very far apart, especially on the west and north coasts. Some stretches exceed 50 miles with no fuel available. Many stations close early and are not open on Sundays. Always fill up when you can — do not wait until the low-fuel warning light appears.
